With our Friends Religious Sisters Daughters of Charity of Saint Vincent De Paul, who opened a school of social integration for Children with intellectual disabilities, we merged with the school called « Ecole Speciale » for the integration with special educational needs.
The Ministry of Education allowed some teachers paid by the government who are specialized in developmental disorders such as : hyperactivity disorder, autism disorder, dyslexia, learning disorder to be ready to train and work with some of our workers and Volunteers to help those Children with special needs. We presented our Children of Notre Dame mission to be with those who were in Ecole Speciale’s Program. The Ministry of Education answered our call and finally did something about the Children with intellectual disabilities this year. And we are following thru to see how far the program will go. That is already a big achievement!
The School for the Blind
In the national level, the Blinds’ Students have a new School built by the Government, with the possibility of transportation. We subscribed many of our Students to the national School.
Several are very smart as we heard, mostly those who are musicians, playing instruments and love poetry. They are what we call in French : « la crème de la crème ».
Many of them are grown, achieved greater self and plenty of fulfilment nurtured in the environment created by Notre Dame Mission
We organized a meal with the Blind Children since they are going on Easter vacation today. That was great.They were 35 Children with vision impairment (Blinds). Everyone also got black glasses we brought for the protection of their eyes.
